On http://docs.typo3.org/flow/TYPO3FlowDocumentation/Quickstart/Index.html
it is cleary described how you get the composer and how you create all required packages of FLOW with it. But one important step is missing inbetween: First you have to clone the current master branch of FLOW from git with "git clone [...]".
This can be very missleading and frustrating for beginners or people who never got to know git.
