Description

The symlink check was added to mark the need to have a proper symlink permission in order for the "Core Updater" to work correctly. But there are several installations where the core updater is not even required or not wanted. So this "Error message" is misleading (as it also is displayed as a "red badge" in the menu).

Discussed and approved in the release team discussion: Reduce it's severity to "Warning".

Why?

This is super annoying when using symlinks for releases.
